If you've never been to the summer races and want to know how to get to Saratoga Race Course, you're in luck! We've put together quick, easy-to-follow driving directions to the track from the north, south, east, and west. Use these routes so you don't miss any of the racing action this year!

From The North (Adirondacks & Canada)

  • Head south on the Adirondack Northway (I-87 S).
  • Take Exit 14 toward Saratoga Springs.
  • Keep right at the fork to merge onto NY Route 9P (Union Avenue).
  • Follow Union Avenue straight to the track gates.

From The South (New York City Area)

Primary Route:

  • Take the New York State Thruway (I-87 N) north.
  • Continue north past Albany, where the highway becomes the Adirondack Northway (I-87 N).
  • Take Exit 14 toward Saratoga Springs.
  • Bear right off the exit onto NY Route 9P (Union Avenue) and follow it directly to the track.

Alternate Route (To avoid Exit 14 traffic):

  • Take Exit 13N off the Northway onto US Route 9 North.
  • Follow Route 9 North into downtown Saratoga Springs.
  • Turn right onto Circular Street, then make a right onto Union Avenue (Route 9P) to approach the track from the opposite side.

From The East (Massachusetts & Connecticut)

Primary Route:

  • Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90 W) toward New York.
  • The Mass Pike becomes the New York State Thruway (I-90 W) at the state line.
  • Take Exit 24 toward Albany, merging onto the Adirondack Northway (I-87 N).
  • Follow I-87 North to Exit 14 at Saratoga Springs.
  • Head west on NY Route 9P (Union Avenue), which leads straight to the track entrances.

Alternate Route:

  • Take Exit 13N off the Northway onto US Route 9 North.
  • Drive north into downtown Saratoga Springs.
  • Turn right onto Circular Street, and then turn right onto Union Avenue (Route 9P).

From The West (Syracuse Area)

Primary Route: * Take the New York State Thruway (I-90 E) east to Exit 28 toward Route 30A (Fultonville).

  • Turn left onto Route 30A North toward Johnstown, then follow the signs to merge onto Route 29 East.
  • Follow Route 29 East all the way into downtown Saratoga Springs, where it becomes Washington Street and then Broadway.
  • Turn right onto Broadway, left onto Spring Street, and left onto Union Avenue (Route 9P) to arrive at the track.

Alternate Route:

  • Take the New York State Thruway (I-90 E) east to Exit 27 (Amsterdam).
  • Merge onto Route 67 East and follow it through Ballston Spa.
  • Turn left onto Route 50 North and follow it into downtown Saratoga Springs.
  • Turn right onto Circular Street, and then make a right onto Union Avenue (Route 9P).

What to Know About Parking at Saratoga Race Course

Finding a place to park at the track is easy, but you'll want to plan ahead. Depending on your budget and how close you want to be to the gates, your options include:

  • Official NYRA Lots: Choose from free general parking at the Oklahoma Lot (which includes a free shuttle) or premium paid trackside and preferred lots. Note that all official track lots are completely cashless.
  • Neighborhood Lawn Parking: Many local homeowners along Union and Nelson Avenues offer paid parking on their lawns for a cash fee.
