Three Ways to Enjoy Food at the Saratoga Racetrack

Before heading to Saratoga, think about what kind of race day experience you want to have. The options for enjoying food at the track rely on three completely different styles.

Fine Dining & Trackside Restaurants

If you want a full-service table for the entire day, you must book a reservation. Managed by Levy Restaurants, these premium spots require a $25 minimum food/beverage spend per person.

Fast-Casual Concessions & The Backyard

For those who want to wander, people-watch, and check out the horses up close, the backyard and lower concourses are packed with walk-up food stands and local Capital Region culinary staples. No reservations or dress codes are required here.

The DIY Picnic Route

Saratoga is one of the only major sports venues in America that lets you bring your own food and drink. If you are figuring out what to eat at the racetrack on a budget, the absolute best option is taking advantage of the track’s generous backyard picnic policy.

You can park a cooler at one of the hundreds of free, first-come, first-served picnic tables in the backyard.

Local Insider Tip on Coolers: NYRA has two strict rules you must follow to get through security. First, absolutely no glass containers are allowed anywhere on the property. Second, all loose ice must be sealed inside bags. Use reusable ice packs or pre-bagged ice to breeze through the gates!

What Are the New Food and Drink Offerings at Saratoga Race Course in 2026?

Every year, NYRA and Levy Restaurants roll out new culinary upgrades. For the latest food and drinks at Saratoga Race Course this season, keep an eye out for these brand-new vendors, menus, and collectible items making their debut.

Brand New Food Vendors

  • Ty's Taco-ria (The Backyard): A fantastic new addition to the casual backyard scene, serving up scratch-made street tacos. Flavor options include Greek Chicken, BBQ Pulled Pork, Falafel, and Sweet Corn.
  • Neighborhood Kitchen (Clubhouse 2nd Floor): Perfect for an elevated grab-and-go lunch. They specialize in upscale craft sandwiches like the Beef & Speck (roast top round) and a heavy-hitting Chopped Italian, alongside shareable plates like Burrata & Berries and customized Charcuterie Boxes.

The 2026 Collectible Cup Series & New Spirits

  • The Greg Montgomery Cup Series: This year’s draft beers and signature cocktails can be served in three different commemorative cups designed by Saratoga’s legendary Travers poster artist. The three rotating designs are titled "The Show" (marking the historic Belmont Stakes at Saratoga), "The Classic," and "The Travers."
  • Chopin Vodka Partnership: Chopin is the official new vodka partner of the track. You can try their spirits at the new Chopin Vodka Bar on the Clubhouse second floor, or ordered in the track’s official cocktail, the Saratoga Sunrise (Chopin vodka, lemonade, and grenadine).
  • New Official Wine: Chateau Ste. Michelle takes over as the official wine partner, featuring their signature Chardonnay and Erath Pinot Noir at premium dining rooms and select concessions.

Trendy New Concession Items

  • Subourbon Life Picnic Bundle: Available exclusively at the Subourbon Beverage Express, this limited-edition deal gets you a collectible, insulated Saratoga logo cooler bag packed with two Saratoga Classic Roasted Turkey Sandwiches, two bourbon-based ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails, and two bags of Hal's NY Kettle Chips.
  • Upgraded Concession Classics: Look out for a new marinated ribeye Cheesesteak at Union Avenue Grill, savory Pastrami Tacos at Taco Republic, a Smoked BBQ Platter at Capital Q, and both a Cubano and a Prosciutto-packed Florentina sandwich at the High Noon Clubhouse Grill.

What Are the Dining Options at the Track for Full-Service Restaurants?

If you choose the fine dining route, your ticket includes a confirmed table configuration for parties of 2 to 10 guests that is yours for the entire race day. All three primary Clubhouse restaurants feature full roofs to protect you from the summer sun or unexpected rain showers.

On-the-Go Eats: Walk-Up Concessions & Bars

The physical layout of the track is split into the open-air grounds and the massive multi-level grandstand structure. Here is where to find some of the popular restaurants, concessions, and bars.

Grandstand & Clubhouse Dining Highlights

While NYRA's official interior maps can frequently shift vendor positions from season to season, the Grandstand and Clubhouse consistently host a powerhouse lineup of trackside mainstays along with exciting new culinary concepts.

Saratoga Track Staples

You can reliably find these crowd favorites holding down the first and second floors across both structures:

  • Hattie’s Fried Chicken: A legendary local institution serving up their famous, crispy Southern-style fried chicken.
  • Carnegie Deli: Brining bold deli classics to the second floor of the Grandstand.

Located right in the heart of the action near the historic Paddock and Gates C and D, this high-energy hub anchors some of the most popular casual food and drink spots at the track.

  • The Surfside Party Deck: Positioned on the second level right above Papa Rosso, this private outdoor deck offers shaded barstool seating, dedicated wagering machines, and great views overlooking the backyard. True to its name, it’s a premier spot to grab refreshing, canned Surfside iced tea and lemonade vodka cocktails.
  • Shake Shack: Skip the standard track burgers and grab a legendary ShackBurger, crinkle-cut fries, or a classic hand-spun milkshake right next to the Paddock.

  • The Post Bar: The ultimate open-air social center adjacent to the Paddock, perfect for grab-and-go beers and premium cocktails between races.

Beverage Options & Sports Bars

Looking to grab a drink between races? The first and second floors feature everything from casual walk-up counters to premium spirit lounges. Here are some of the can't-miss options:

  • Miller Time Fourstardave Sports Bar: A massive, high-energy hub located on the lower level. While it features walk-up bar service for anyone looking to grab a cold drink, the surrounding tables offer dedicated reserved seating options.

Can You Use Cash for Food and Drinks at Saratoga Race Course?

No, you cannot use physical cash at the track's concession lines or dining venues. Saratoga Race Course dining and concessions operate completely cashless. Cash is absolutely not accepted at any on-track dining locations, food courts, or premium bars.

If you only brought cash with you, you must head to the Grandstand 2nd Floor near the Finish Line Grill and use the on-track Reverse ATM. This machine allows you to feed your cash in and receive a prepaid debit card that is accepted anywhere inside the gates, ensuring you don't hit any roadblocks when trying to order.

Hit the Concession Lines and Enjoy the Races

Now that you know exactly where to find the best food and drinks inside the gates, you are ready to master your day at the Spa. Skip the guesswork, head straight to your favorite concession, and focus on what matters most—enjoying a world-class day of racing at Saratoga.
