The Band and the Irish Guards were formed in 1900 on the expressed wish of HM Queen Victoria to commemorate the bravery of the Irish Regiments. The bands of the British Army traditionally provide musical support to troops on active service. The Band has toured extensively and, in 2010, will make its debut tour of the United States.
