Please join Saratoga Reads! for a discussion of our 2012 book choice, The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot. The widely acclaimed nonfiction work tells the story of an African American woman who sought treatment for cervical cancer at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1951. During treatment, and without her consent, samples of her cancer tissue were taken for medical and scientific experimentation.
Each session includes a mixture of chanting, silent meditation and yoga-type movement, focused on a particular quality or theme in our lives. All are welcome to attend single or multiple sessions, regardless of prior experience with either meditation or movement. Wear comfortable clothing to facilitate movement.
